Has Britney Spears killed dubstep?

Britney Spears’ dubstep-tinged new single ‘Hold It Against Me’ got its global premier today, and it’s got us wondering has 2010′s biggest genre just taken a dubstep too far?

While far from all-out dubstep, the influences are all over it and, when the bass drops at 2.22, it’s clear Miss Spears – who has worked with scene Lynchpin Rusko on other tracks for her forthcoming album (though not this release) – has well and truly jumped on the dubstep bandwagon – the question is, will that mean everyone else starts to jump ship…
